Applesauce Cake with Honey
Cake recipe from MD Beekeepers Cookbook 1982 with honey, applesauce, raisins and nuts
Equipment
- 1 9x9x2 inch pan cake pan
- 1 mixer mixer
- 1 spatula spatula
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup honey
- 2 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup nuts can be pecan or walnuts, lightly toasted
- 1/2 cup raisins optional, try soaking in rum for extra fun flavor
Instructions
- Pre-heat over to 350 degrees
- Cream shortening
- Add honey gradually, creaming after each addition
- Sift dry ingredients together
- Add to creamed mixture the dry ingredients alternately with applesauce
- Fold in nuts and raisins
- Pour batter into well greased 9x9x2 inch pan
- Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes
