Orange-Nut Bread with Honey
Quick bread with orange and honey flavor
Equipment
- 1 mixing bowl with beaters
- 1 set mixing cups
- 1 set mixing spoons
- 1 spatula
- 1 loaf pan
- 1 sifter
- 1 knife to cut up nuts
- 1 parchment paper to line loaf pan
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp shortening
- 1 cup honey (local)
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 1/2 tbsp grated orange rind
- 3/4 cup orange juice
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Cream the shortening and honey well
- Add the beaten egg and orange rind
- Sift the dry ingredients and add to the bowl alternately with the orange juice
- Add the chopped nuts
- Pour into greased loaf pan, the bottom of which has been lined with parchment paper
- Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until the loaf is nicely browned and begins to shrink from the sides of the pan
