Applesauce Cake using local Honey

- 1/3 cup shortening
- 3/4 cup honey
- 2 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup nuts can be pecan or walnuts, lightly toasted
- 1/2 cup raisins optional, try soaking in rum for extra fun flavor

Pre-heat over to 350 degrees
Cream shortening
Add honey gradually, creaming after each addition
Sift dry ingredients together
Add to creamed mixture the dry ingredients alternately with applesauce
Fold in nuts and raisins
Pour batter into well greased 9x9x2 inch pan
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes
